Seventeenth Local Legends Grant Winners!

Congratulations to our Seventeenth Local Legends Grant Winner – Pillans Point School!

Pillans Point School are the latest winners to clinch the title of Local Legends and receive a $10,000 grant to put toward funding the school’s Native Cultural Mural series.

Working closely with their local Iwi, Pillans Point School have developed a plan to tell the stories of the area through a series of large and small murals throughout the school, commissioning local artist Millie Pidwell ‘Murals by Millie’ to bring it all to life.

The murals are set to become an important teaching tool for the school and will leave a legacy for future generations within the school and the local community.

The first mural ‘Tapuerau’ was unveiled in late September 2024 and can be seen at the front gate of the school on Maxwells Road. The school plans to complete a further 6 murals over the coming 12-18 months.
